It is quite an amazing thing that we do not have to live on this big planet alone, and instead, we can share it with such a vast and extraordinary variety of animals. And while some of them might actually look quite frightening, most of them are definitely adorable and cute, so we decided to do them justice by creating a top of the cutest animals in the world.

27. The Okapi

The Okapi is a species of animal close to the giraffe but with visual aspects of the zebra. It also goes by the names forest giraffe and zebra giraffe and lives in the Ituri tropical forest in the Democratic Republic of Congo. An adult Okapi can live up to 30 years and can reach a height of 4.9 ft (1.5m) and a weight between 440 to 770 lb (200 to 350 kg).

Like a giraffe, the Okapi has a long tongue that allows it to tear leaves from taller trees. Its fur is thick and protects it from the heavy rains of the tropical forest. Also, it has a gland that secretes odors in both hooves.

The male Okapi has horns, while the female Okapi is able to give birth to one baby at a time, who starts defecating barely a month after birth in order not to attract predators.

The bat-eared fox owns the title of the only existing species in the genus Otocyon. This animal is known for its cute appearance, characterized by huge ears, a small face, and a sharp snout. Living in arid and semi-arid regions of southern and eastern Africa, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Angola, Zambia, and South Sudan, the bat-eared fox has some unusual teeth that are smaller than those of a typical canid and with eight extra molars. This animal weighs 4.4 to 9.9 lbs (2 to 4.5 kg) and loves to feed on insects and termites.

Its harmless, cute appearance makes it a perfect candidate for domestication, especially since it is actually smaller than an average cat. And while this may sound good for humans, this is in fact a very bad thing for the fennec foxes, since many trappers are actively capturing them in order to sell them as pets or to put them on display.
